I have been going through the Debian bug database and working with some
Debian & Devuan developers to close bugs against SysV init and insserv.
The work is going well and so far we've gone through about 40 reports.

This has resulted in several fixes and improvements to documentation
upstream while a number of other issues have been triaged downstream,
usually to other packages or distro-specific init scripts.

So far so good.

Some of the Debian team want to get these SysV fixes packages and into
Debian Testing before the Debian 10 "Buster" freeze in January. With
this in mind I plan to publish a beta release in a few weeks and then
(all going well) publish a new stable release around the start of
December. The new version will be sysvinit-2.92.

Right now I'm testing the changes on amd64 and armhf machines. And I'll
announce a beta once I'm convinced everything is working well.

If there are any outstanding issues you want addressed prior to version
2.92, please let me know in the next few weeks.
